Preforeclosures are know as properties that have reached the final stages before getting repossessed or taken back by the lender or bank.  The home owner is still in control of the property or home, but if the do not get their payments back on track the lender will come in a take the property back.  Once payments are made by the home owner or a third party things go back to normal.
